Ready Set Go
In my childhood, the start of any foot race would begin with the long drawn out notes of “Reeeaaadddy, Seeetttt, Go!”. Well today the foot race is more like a marathon, and the finish line is a 2012 spent for the Glory of God.
Are you Ready? How do you get ready for the unknown, the unexpected, and the unplanned? The best way is to fast and pray. Seeking the face of God for divine direction and purpose is what wise men and women do.
Are you Set? Throughout scripture we see that God desires the first. Worship is the “first day” of the week. The tithe is the “first fruits” of increase. The old covenant demanded that the first born been offered to the Lord both man and livestock alike. We observe that when He receives the “first” as a sacrifice, the rest is blessed by Him. The principle is, the “first” belongs to the Lord, give it and all that you have remaining will be blessed. So let us SET aside the “first” 21 days unto the Lord as a sacrifice believing He will Bless the Rest.
Go! A soldier doesn’t proceed without marching orders; a good athlete doesn’t act without the coach’s direction. Neither let it be said of us that we went forth without first hearing from the Lord. We desperately want and need to GO. But we should strive to first hear so we can be obedient!
Ready, Set; Go !
But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, Matthew 6:17 (ESV)
So He said to them, "This kind (unbelief) can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting." Mark 9:29 (NKJV)
