IRON MEN
The name of our ministry to men, Iron Men, is not to suggest we are guys who spiritually have it all together. Rather it is to define the opposite. We are men who desire to serve God and know we need direction, encouragement, and sometimes assistance to get that done. Proverbs 27:17 says "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." We are men not perfect, certainly not religious, but men that have a desire for the Lord.
Our activities are as varied as the men we serve. Recently separate events focused on shooting clays, rodeo and cutting, and hearing from a former Dallas Cowboy and Super Bowl champion. We will also be trekking to Colorado to spend a few days in the mountains while the cook team keeps us well fed on BBQ and steaks.
Although the events and the men are varied, the focus is not. As Proverbs 27:17 alludes, discipleship is our focus, leading a man to Christ until he is strong enough to lead another man to Christ. We challenge each man to have a "Paul" in his life (2 Timothy 2:2). In other words, this “Paul” is a spiritually mature mentor that can pray with him and challenge him to be all he can for Christ. We also challenge each man to have a Timothy in his life, someone that he can mentor, pray with and challenge. In this way we feel that as men we are doing our part "make disciples" according to Matthew 28:19.
