| LIFE STORY |
Life Story?...Would you like the hardcover or paperback edition? Ok, well go with the extremely condensed version, just add water. I was born in a Texas hole-in-the-road called Trinidad. The only thing exciting in the town was the local DQ. I have two younger brothers and a baby sister. My sister and I were born thirteen years apart, so she will always be my baby sister. Needless to say, with four siblings under one roof, there was a lot of drama. At the age of six, we began attending First Assembly of God in Mankin, Texas. I remember it was louder than the Methodist services I was used to. People shouted and became excited quite often. My mother loved it. When I was 8 my parents were getting baptized by a Pentecostal evangelist named Danny Stevenson. I felt led to be baptized also. I decided to ask my pastor, Jimmy Munns, to baptize me. I was afraid of the evangelist, he moved so fast shouting and preaching I thought he could not be human, he must be a robot. We were all three baptized on the same day in the Trinity River…yes, the river; we didn’t have a baptistry in our church. I was ten when my pastor’s wife, Martha Munns, started teaching my Sunday school class. She always talked about the Holy Spirit and what it was like to speak in tongues. I loved to hear the older ladies in the church talk about the Holy Spirit and the miracles they had seen in their life. Church was everything to me. I loved going to Missionettes on Wednesday nights. I loved going to services on Sunday. We were there every time the doors were open. At the age of eleven I experienced the power of the Holy Spirit for the first time. I spoke in another language. I knew the wealth of what God had in store for my life went far beyond what my natural eyes could see. I fell in love with God and nothing would ever break the bond. As a teenager, I told the Lord I would do whatever He called me to do. At age 21 I walked into a church service and saw the cutest guy playing the piano and singing for the worship service. Yeah, that was Mo. Six months later we were married. For the last thirteen years we have served the Lord together in ministry. God has blessed us with three beautiful children. We are thankful the path has led us to a wonderful church family at Stephenville First Assembly. |
